POWER TRUST – in Eradication of Child Marriage System – Campaign in Rural Areas
POWER TRUST has been closely working with rural communities, where the system of child marriage was practiced before many decades, the abolished practice is being developed in many other ways today. The practice still persists and there are thousands of girl children are affected by this. To stop child marriage, POWER TRUST have implemented a Special Campaign on Eradication of Child Marriage Events and awareness programs have been organised through Trained Women SHGs to create awareness among rural masses in the working areas.
POWER TRUST – CHILD HELP LINE 1098 – Protection of Child Rights – Community Action
In association with the District level CHILD HELP LINE 1098 and in coordination of the Sub Center, Chinnamanur, our POWER TRUST has initiated the Child Rights Awareness to create democratic space for all children to participate in governance and Protection of Child Rights through forming children’s groups at the neighbourhood level, federated at Panchayat, block, district and state levels, backed by the mandate of the state. The participation of children representatives is linked in all above said levels by us and our POWER TRUST has promoted the District level “Child Parliament” in the rural areas.
CAMPAIGN ON GIRL CHILD EDUCATION
Sumangali scheme is a well known child labor scheme in textile industries in Tamil Nadu. POWER TRUST in association with the TPF (Tiruppur People’s Forum) is working in selected blocks and villages to create awareness about the anti children scheme – especially the Adolescnet Girls. It organizes consultations, awareness programs for Girl Children and stake holders about the importance of Girls Children Education and Development.
Relief and Rehabilitation for the affected children have been done by the organization. Identifying and mainstreaming the affected children by fire accidents in the fire works industry in Theni District. They are linked to the Tripur Peoples Forum – Care -T
POWER TRUST has been awarded for the effective implementation of Government Welfare Schemes in the District by the District Administration, Theni
POWER TRUST has studied in detail on forest biodiversity in all the eight forest ranges of Theni Forest Division.
POWER TRUST received Appreciation Award for better implementation of UNDP Program in Theni district in collaboration with the District Administration and the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

Project Title:
Sports And Joy Ful Learning for tribal Children of Megamalai Hills in Tamil Nadu
Project Objectives:
- To conduct regular Sports training for tribal children of Megamalai area of Theni district
- To recruit volunteers as Sports facilitators to work in the Anganwadi and schools.
- To orient parents, PRI representatives, and community leaders to achieve the goal of the project in a realistic way through workshops;
- To sensitize the parents and communities through special events; and,
- To organize special events on tribal folk lore and games to these children
Project activities:
- Regular Sports (outdoor games for tribal children and tribal youth
- Conduct Sports events/ tournaments at village levels
- Recruit volunteers for Sports / games motivation
- Monitoring and Evaluation
POWER TRUST will facilitate the formation of a Monitoring Committee consisting of 10 persons represented by the representatives of local bodies.
Expected Outcomes:
- Children participating in Sports program are exposed to a structured curriculum that helps to improve their academic development.
- The children placed in Sports will have better language and cognitive development during the first phase of their life.
- At the age of 6, children who attended this project will have substantially stronger reading and math skills relative to similar children who attended informal, home-based childcare settings.
Sustainability:
This project would sustain with the active participation of its peer groups and also with district sports authority, when the visible changes are noticed.
